Studying Japanese at tertiary level

Victoria

Monash University

Monash University offers language classes at a range of levels, many with the option of late-afternoon time slots suitable for teachers. You can apply to study a single subject, but the most effective option is to enrol for a Graduate Diploma or Post-Graduate Diploma in Languages (depending on level) - which you can do on HECS, and which gives you a formal qualification suitable for accreditation. You can also add in a 12-point unit from our Applied Japanese Linguistics Program, including (in semester 1 next year) Japanese Systematic Grammar, which will also be of interest to native speakers. Or, you can take up to 24 points of language as part of a Graduate Diploma or Masters in Japanese Applied Lingusitics or Asian Studies.
