Extended Characters in Anywhere
All of the following characters can be produced in almost all Windowsô programs. You can do this by holding down the Alt key at the same time as typing the number printed above the character on the numeric keypad of your keyboard (don´t use the numbers on the top row of the keyboard).
e.g. Say you wish to type ëá´ hold down the Alt key and type ë0225´ on the numeric keypad ( note: you must include the zero ).
Notes
- You need to make sure that the "Num Lock" of your keyboard is on to input the characters above using this method. Your keyboard should indicate (via an led next to the words Num Lock; or similar) when Num Lock is on. To toggle it on and off use the Num Lock key which is usually situated in the top left corner of the numeric keypad.
- The numeric keypad is the section of the keyboard usually on the right consisting of number keys and mathematical symbols.
- On a laptop you will probably need to use a function key combination to shift your keyboard into numeric keypad mode.
- If your system supports the euro symbol "Ä " (if it appears correctly here then the system you are on does support the euro) you can input it buy holding down the Alt key and typing ë0128´ on the numeric keypad.
