Monash Philosophers Elected to the Academy

Professor Graham Oppy and Associate Professor Karen Green, from the School of Philosophy and Bioethics were elected to the Australian Academy of Humanities at the recent annual general meeting held in Canberra on 21 November.

Academics Win Prize for Translation of a Scholarly Study of Literature

The Modern Language Association’s 2010 Aldo and Jeanne Scaglione Prize for a Translation of a Scholarly Study of Literature has been awarded to three Monash academics:

The prize was received for their work on The Book of Peace by Christine de Pizan.

Lloyd Humberstone, Visiting Professor at Princeton

Lloyd Humberstone has been appointed Visiting Professor in the Department of Philosophy, Princeton University for one semester (2007/08) from September 2007.

He will be teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses during his stay, and will be back at Monash by early in 2008.

2005 Faculty of Arts Award for Excellence in Higher Degree by Research Supervision

The 2005 recipients of the Faculty of Arts Award for Excellence in Higher Degree by Research Supervision were Dr Heather Bowe from the Linguistics section of the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics and Professor Graham Oppy from the Philosophy section of the School of Philosophy and Bioethics. Both Dr Bowe’s and Professor Oppy’s nominations came with glowing reports from their students, past and present.
