Fellowship awarded to CCLCS Graduate

Dr Carlo Salzani

Dr Carlo Salzani has been awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship.

Dr Salzani completed a PhD in the Centre for Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies on ‘Constellations of Reading: Walter Benjamin in Figures of Actuality’ in 2007.

The fellowships are offered world-wide on a competitive basis. The most important criteria for selection are the applicant’s publications and the quality and feasibility of their research proposal. This is the second Humboldt Fellowship to have been awarded to a Centre graduate in the last three years.

Award-Winning Author Focuses on New Novel

Mr Adib Khan

Celebrated author, alumnus Mr Adib Khan (MA 1976) has returned to Monash University to complete a PhD on creative writing. His work focuses on a 65,000-word novel – Song of Jackals – about the effect of globalisation on a rural community in a developing nation.

Haywood bibliography wins modern language award

1000th Arts PhD awardee Dr Akiko Yamane and others

The Faculty of Arts last week celebrated the awarding of its 1000th doctorate to Dr. Akiko Yamane for her thesis Rethinking climate change and vulnerability in Sri Lanka’.

Innovative Research by Monash PhD Student and Staff

Guibin Zhang joined Monash University as a PhD scholarship student in April 2003 having previously completed a Masters degree at the SWUFE University in Chengdu, Sichuan province, western China.

Recent Achievements by MAI PHD Candidate

PhD candidate from the Monash Asia Institute, Marlia Puteh, is working on a thesis about “Malaysian Universities and implementing e-learning strategies”. Two papers based on this work have been presented at Australian and international conferences recently. Read the rest of this entry »

PhD Candidate Wins Romanzi Award

Stephen Lay, who recently completed his PhD in History, has won the Romanzi Award for a 30,000-word essay on the interpretation of the Magna Charta Universitatum. PhD Scholarship – United Nations and Muslim Grievances

A PhD scholarship is made available as part of a large project funded by the Australian Research Council. The chief investigator and supervisor of the PhD project is Dr Shahram Akbarzadeh at the School of Political and Social Inquiry, Monash University (Clayton).

Monash PhD Candidate Awarded Victoria Funding

Arts Victoria has announced funding for Melbourne-based composer Philip Czaplowski’s Birrarung Marr for chamber orchestra, a work commissioned by Australia Pro Arte. Philip is currently a PhD candidate in the School of Music , Monash University , under the supervision of Dr. Thomas Reiner.
