Indigenous Graduate Studies

The Centre for Australian Indigenous Studies (CAIS) offers a Master of Arts in Australian Indigenous Studies by research, which entails a thesis of 30,000-40,000 words in length on an approved research topic. CAIS also offers a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by research, of no more than 100,000 words.

Supervision

The Centre will appoint a suitably qualified supervisor for Australian Indigenous Studies graduate study. The supervisor will have appropriate knowledge in the area and experience in successful supervision of students. In addition, where appropriate, an Indigenous mentor may be appointed.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for research higher degrees. Applications close at the end of October of each year. Forms and further information on scholarships can be obtained from the Research Training and Support Branch at Monash University.

Library facilities and resources

In addition to Main Library resources, the CAIS Research Centre includes the Elizabeth Eggleston Library, which contains unique sources relevant to graduate research. This Library provides access to some specialized materials not readily available elsewhere on Indigenous affairs.
