Mr Chunming Shan

Assistant Lecturer

Having completed his MA studies in the American Studies Centre in Beijing Foreign Studies University in 1993, Chunming worked there as a lecturer of English language and literature for 3 years.  In 1996, Chunming came to Australia and started teaching in the University of Melbourne (1998-2001) and Monash University (2001-present).

Starting from 2004, Chunming has been engaged in the Chinese Incountry Program in the Chinese Studies Program, a most welcome summer course program in Monash.  And the program grew to be the world’s largest incountry program.  Chunming has been responsible for the Chinese Incountry Program in Beijing and goes to Beijing each year during the program period as Monash University staff for supervision and liaison. 

Apart from the administrative work in the Chinese Incountry Program, since 2001, Chunming has been teaching Chinese units at each level in the Chinese Studies Program.  He was also involved in the establishment of the Master of Interpretation and Translation Studies (MITS) in the school and taught three subjects in MITS.  Currently Chunming is the coordinator of the translation stream at the undergraduate level and teaches translation units.

Chunming’s research interest is in the area of translation studies.  His current research is centered on the role translation in second language acquisition.
