Chinese Enrolment and Placement Testing
The Chinese Studies Program conducts diagnostic placement tests to ensure that new students enrol at the level most appropriate for their current language proficiency.
If you wish to enrol in first semester and have never studied Chinese before you can enrol directly in Chinese 1 (CHI1010/2010) and do not need to sit for a placement test.
If you have previously studied Chinese, either formally at school, or informally, you are required to undergo a placement test and/or interview in order to obtain enrolment approval. A special placement test is held during February for students enrolling at Monash for the first time (venue, date and time to be advised). Existing Monash students enrolling in Chinese for the first time should contact the Chinese Studies program for further information.
