First Year Chinese Enrolment and Placement Testing

The Chinese Studies Program conducts diagnostic placement tests to ensure that you enrol at the level most appropriate for your current language proficiency.

If you have never studied Chinese before you can enrol directly in Chinese 1 (CHI1010) and do not need to sit for a placement test.

If you have previously studied Chinese, either formally at school, or informally, you are required to take a placement test to determine your correct entry level. Enrolments prior to taking the placement test are therefore only provisional.
