Description


Students are required to complete 48 points of study comprising of a thesis and two coursework units.
The coursework units and the thesis topic are chosen in consultation with the Politics honours coordinator.

  • Students complete one of the following options:
  • PLT4049 Honours thesis OR
  • PLT4049 (A) Honours thesis Part 1 AND
  • PLT4049 (B) Honours thesis Part 2

Coursework Units

Students complete two of the following units:

  • PLT4065 Advanced Seminar in International Political Economy
  • PLT4299 China: The Quest for Modernisation
  • PLT4319 Wars of Recognition: Terrorism and Political Violence
  • PLT4399 Grand Theories of Politics
  • PLT4349 Fringe Politics and Extremist Violence: An Introduction to Terrorism
  • PLT4499 Global Soul: Consumers, Citizens and Rebels
  • PLT4569 Special Reading Unit
  • PLT4609 Strategic Studies: A Critical Interrogation
  • PLT4809 Australian National Government
  • PLT4930 South East Asian Politics

Gippsland and Off-campus

Thesis

Students complete the following two units:

  • HUM4000(B) Dissertation Part 2

Coursework Units

Students complete the following two units:

  • HPL4510 Research writing in history and politics
  • HUM4002 Selected topics in theory and practice
