Study load information
Study full-time, part-time or overload
Study load and attendance provides information on the number of credit points you should enrol in to maintain full-time or part-time study and details about underloading, overloading and attendance mode.
Underload semester enrolment - for International students
In special circumstances and upon faculty approval, you can be given permission to enrol in a reduced load. See underloading for conditions and application form.
Return the form to the faculty office on your home campus.
Overloading semester points
Undergraduate students
- Second and third year Arts students may overload by up to six credit points per semester, and in some double degree programs students are expected to overload in later years.
- Unless enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts Dean's Scholars Program, first-year students are not permitted to overload.
- Second and third year students can overload and do not need to apply for permission. Simply enrol in the additional unit via the Web Enrolment System (WES) or in person at Arts Student Services.
Postgraduate students
- Arts postgraduate coursework students may overload by up to six credit points per semester. Simply enrol in the additional unit via the Web Enrolment System (WES) or in person at Arts Student Services.
These rules apply to domestic and international students.
Before you enrol, think carefully about the additional work you are taking on by overloading. If you overload in a semester and then struggle to meet assessment or attendance requirements because of your workload, the fact that you are undertaking additional studies will not be an acceptable reason to request special consideration.
If you want to overload and you do not meet the criteria above:
Download and complete a Request to overload [rtf 653kb] and return the form to the faculty office on your home campus.
