What is Arts summer/winter semester?

Summer and winter semesters provide the opportunity to earn credit points outside the standard semesters. Broadly speaking summer subjects run sometime between November and February while winter subjects run between mid June and mid July.

Subjects delivered in these semesters operate slightly differently to those in semesters 1 or 2. For one thing, most units are delivered intensively. This means that the teaching period for these units is usually much shorter than in a standard semester. But class hours may be considerably longer. For example, instead of attending 3 hours of class per week for 12 weeks, you might have all day classes (with breaks) for a week. Again, this varies between units.

Another difference is that there are no universal dates for summer or winter units. Each unit has its own set of dates so the enrolment, teaching and census dates vary widely between units. Because of these differences, it is important that you find out all about the unit before you enrol. See subject information.
