Undergraduate: How to re-enrol in your Arts course

1) When are you going to study?

Study in semester 1 & 2 You must enrol in units for both semesters during the on-time re-enrolment period.
Study in Semester 1 & take a break in semester 2 (or vice versa) Enrol in units for the semester you intend to study and apply for intermission in the semester you intend to take a break from study. See take a break from study for intermission information.
Neither semester If you have not completed the requirements of your course, you must apply for intermission for next year. See take a break from study for intermission information.

2) Check your Course Structure

Before you select units for next year, make sure you check the requirements and structure of your course. Use your course map to plot your progress so far and reveal the types of subjects you need to study next.

You must refer to the course description in the University Handbook for the year you started your course. This lists the requirements for the successful completion of your course and it includes details of major, minor or sequence requirements and any core units or areas of study.

If your course has compulsory units that you must complete, use our unit code conversion table to find the new ATS unit codes. This feature is available online from 1 October.

For additional information, see course maps and information

3) Select Units for Next Year

Next you need to select your units for next year. You must select and enrol in units for both semesters if you intend to study in semester 1 and 2.

You must check the areas of study information to ensure you are selecting the right units for the areas you want to specialise in. Some areas of study have compulsory units you need to complete to meet major and minor requirements.

You must ensure all enrolled units will count towards the requirements of your course and the areas of study you want to specialise in.

Please note information for 2012 is available from 1 October in the University Handbook.

Additional information for students on an international student visa

Students on a Student Visa must enrol in 24 credit points in semester 1 and 24 credit points in semester 2. Please be aware that even though you are enrolling for both semesters your fees will assessed and payable per semester.

If you do not enrol in 24 credit points per semester you may be in breach of your student visa requirements and may be reported to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). An enrolment of less than 24 credit points in either semester 1 or 2 must be discussed and approved by the Faculty of Arts; see underload.

4) Enrol in Units

Enrol online

Most students can re-enrol using the Web Enrolment System (WES). Rremember, every time you successfully add or discontinue units via WES, you will receive a transaction number. You should retain these transaction numbers as evidence of your unit alterations. For help, see the WES enrolment guide.

Enrol in person

If you are unable to enrol on WES, you can submit an enrolment form at the Faculty office on your home campus. Enrolment forms are available from all Faculty offices. See contact Arts Student Services for locations.

Can you change your re-enrolment?

Keep in mind you will be able to adjust your enrolment after you have re-enrolled. Typically you have until the Friday of the second week of each semester to finalise your on-campus enrolment for that semester. See Monash important dates.
