Amy Gibbs

For my Doctoral thesis I am researching the topic ‘Histories of the Future: Community Longevity in the Virtual World.’ My research examines the roles of friendship, networking and interests in the longevity of online community. I am looking at both formal and informal media fandom communities residing within blogging networks, and argue that there are concrete reasons for a community’s success or failure. I have been involved in online community continuously since 1995. I completed a Bachelors Degree at Monash in the areas of History and Archaeology. For my Honours thesis I examined the validity of history on Native American tribal websites.
