GIS in Schools Competition 2001

Winners of 2002 Competition in Victoria Was the Presbyterian Ladies' College (Plc)
Congratulation's to Jessica Rae, Crystal Chu, Sherry Wu, Cara-Jayne Beh and Rebecca Haward of the Presbyterian Ladies' College (PLC) for winning this year's AURISA GIS in Schools competition. Their project titled 'Our Streets, Our Lives A study of pedestrian accidents in Whitehorse', used GIS to investigate the primary factors affecting pedestrian accidents in Whitehorse and recommended solutions to help prevent further pedestrian accidents. For their efforts, PLC were presented with both a hardcopy and softcopy aerial photograph of their school and surrounding district kindly sponsored by QASCO.
This year's competition saw a high standard of entries, and all entrants should be congratulated for their efforts (well done everyone). A more comprehensive summary of this years entries will be forwarded in the following weeks and I also intend to publish a selection of entries our GIS in Schools website. Each entrant will also be receiving a certificate of participation in the coming weeks for the efforts, including some smaller awards for their efforts (so teachers please keep an eye out in the mail).
Again, well done everyone!
