Graduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
These professionally-oriented courses
are offered from the Centre for Geographical Information Systems
(GIS). They are designed for graduates aspiring to pursue careers
in the new profession of spatial science. Students can enter from
diverse backgrounds, for example environmental and social science,
high-school teaching and land-use planning. Students will learn the
concepts, principles, applications of spatial science and acquire
knowledge of the global and Australian geo-spatial industry. Centre
for GIS graduates have found a wide market for their skills, for
instance, among environmental science consultancies, geodemographic
survey companies, government agencies (Federal, State and local)
and corporations. Demand for such graduates is increasing worldwide,
in parallel with the growth of the spatial science industry.
