South Asian Studies Association (SASA)
The Hugh Owen Prize - Additional Information
Each year the South Asian
Studies Association (SASA) offers the Hugh Owen prize for the best
undergraduate essay in South Asian studies. For the purposes of the
prize, the term South Asia' covers the nations of the Indian
subcontinent and is taken to include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan,
India, the Maldives Islands, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
Essays are invited from all disciplines.
The prize is awarded to the best undergraduate essay on South Asia in any field of not more than 4,000 words written as part of an undergraduate course of study during the academic year of 2006.
The value of the prize is AUD $250.00
NAB EXCELLENCE IN STUDENT JOURNALISM AWARDS 2006
The National Press Club of Australia in partnership with the National Australia Bank have announced the first annual NAB Excellence in Student Journalism Awards. The awards are also being supported by the Journalism Education Association (JEA).
The objectives of these Awards are to:
- Recognise and promote excellence among students of journalism in Australia
- Provide a platform for students of journalism in Australia to be recognised among their peers, communities, the corporate world and by media organisations.

- Successful applicants usually spend a year in Canberra studying at ANU and working in a branch of the public service. Credits can be claimed towards the Monash degree.
