Modern Israel Studies
Course Convenor: Fania Oz-SalzbergerModern Israel studies is set within a range of global perspectives incorporating Israeli history, politics, law, international relations, public affairs, economy, cultures and arts. The courses provide graduates with a comprehensive, multi-layered knowledge of the history, politics, society and culture of present-day Israel, with a critical understanding of the deep-end contexts of current affairs.
The Leon Liberman Chair, Professor Fania-Oz Salzberger leads the Modern Israel Studies program. The professor holds a dual appointment at Monash University and Haifa University. Teaching and research supervision draws on distinguished overseas visiting professors and a post-doctoral Research Fellow. Exchange programs incorporating Israel studies exist with Haifa University, Hebrew University and Tel Aviv University.
Research Scholarships to Israel are available for students undertaking a major research project.
