Linguistics
The Linguistics Research Group comprises researchers within the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics, Faculty of Arts, who investigate the relationship between language and the social world.
Translation & Intercultural Studies Research Group
Our research encompasses various areas of translation and interpreting studies research, including literatures in translation, transnational writing and identities, history of translation, modes of interpreting, ethics of the profession, training & pedagogical approaches as well as the incorporation of new technologies in the professional and teaching environment.
Literary Studies Research Group
Our research encompasses the literatures and cultures of the world, in particular European, Asian and South American literatures.
It is interdisciplinary in nature and combines theoretical approaches with concrete forms of cultural expressions in literature, film, theatre, television and digital texts, images and sounds (multimedia, hypertext).
Our researchers are nationally and internationally renowned and have been published in English and Bosnian, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Croatian, Russian, Serbian, Spanish and Ukrainian.
We supervise MA and PhD dissertations and in all of the areas named above. Topics for future postgraduate research are listed under the main areas of our current research.
Society, History and Politics
The Society, History and Politics research group has a strong focus on East Asia, particularly China, Japan and Taiwan. The main areas of research are listed below and we welcome prospective postgraduates looking for supervision in these areas.
