The School of Music-Conservatorium's Lunchtime Concert Series provides staff, students and the wider community an opportunity to enjoy a musical lunch break. Classical, jazz, world music, new music - international, staff and student soloists & ensembles perform a vast array of musical styles guaranteed to suit every palate. The 2009 program highlights include performances by international visiting artists John Baily and Veronica Doubleday plus a visiting jazz artist later in the semester (soon to be announced). More performances include Clarinetist Brigid Burke accompanied by David McNicol, Low Flutes headed by Peter Sheridan, Louisa Hunter-Bradley presenting Emily Dickinson songs and the Payvar Ensemble. Philip Flavin returns with Japanese chamber music as does Tony Gould and Rob Burke with some original compositions as well as some standard jazz repertoire.
Student performances showcase the 'Best of class' and student ensemble groups including Sinfonia, Wind Symphony, Viva Voce Choral Ensemble, Philomel Ensemble, Stage Band, World Music Ensemble.
The School of Music-Conservatorium encourages and promotes diversity and integration of traditional, multi-cultural and contemporary styles of music performance.
Clayton Campus - Every Thursday during semester from 1.10pm for approximately 40 minutes in the Music Auditorium, Rm G36, Building 68. Admission is $4 at the door.
Gippsland Campus - Selected Wednesdays during semester from 1.10pm for approximately 40 minutes in the Hexagon Theatre, Rm 132, Building 1S.
Sound Series
Concerts are presented by students from the School of Music - Conservatorium's performance programs. Voice, Piano, Chamber Music, Gamelan, String and Jazz/Popular music all perform for you in these evening concerts. These rund on various nights in the semesters.... check calendar of events below....
