Voice Performance Program
Classical
Monash classical voice program provides a supportive, encouraging environment for singers to refine their craft, expand their knowledge and realise their potential. The course of study offers singing students comprehensive training in all aspects of vocal performance, research and pedagogy. Students receive expert instruction in solo voice through a combination of:
- individual lessons with eminent practitioner-teachers,
- performance workshops and guest masterclasses exploring repertoire, styles and professional practice,
- language and diction class on a three-year rotation (German 2005, French 2006, Italian 2007)
Development during the program occurs through individual technical vocal development, listening and informal peer evaluation, familiarity with vocal terminology, and investigation of standard solo vocal repertoire and performance practices.
Performance opportunities are many and varied: students from all year levels are provided opportunities to perform publicly in voice program and general student concerts, including the Concerto competition, Sound concert series, Monash Viva Voce Choral Ensemble, Monash Philomel Ensemble and Chamber Music ensembles.
