Dave Beck

Dave Beck is one of the most versatile drummers in Australia.

Dave studied music in Australia and abroad in the USA (New York at the Dummers Collective and Los Angeles at PIT) and has since gone on to perform in a variety of musical situations both in Australia and overseas.

As a sideman In Melbourne he has backed many performers including Tina Arena, Renee Geyer, Marcia Hines, Doug Parkinson, James Reyne and Mark Seymour (Hunters and Collectors), Delta Goodrem.

Having played on many TV shows such as GTV 9’s In Melbourne Tonight, GMA, and Starstruck has he backed many international artists including Keb Mo, Faith Hill, Chubby Checker, Little Richard and Joan Rivers.

For the past 4 years he has been playing with the original singers and songwriters Glen Shorrock, Graeme Goble and Beeb Beertles from the record-breaking Australian rock group, the Little River Band. (documented on an Awarding winning Gold sales live DVD 'Full Cricle').

He also performs and records locally with jazz legends such as Don Burrows, Dale Barlow (from Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers), Joe Chindamo (recorded number 1 selling jazz album in Japan in 2004) and Steve Magnusson. He was awarded best contemporary Jazz Album at the 2009 Bell Awards for ‘Lost and Found’s' first release with Jamie Oehlers and Paul Grabowsky as well as Australian Jazz ensemble of the year for 'Way out West'.

Also touring with International greats such as Hans Ulrich (Grammy Award winning sax player) and USA Blues legend Barbara Morrison at jazz festivals overseas in Rome, Pori, Sweden, Copenhagen, Finland and Japan. In the past few years he has toured nationally with the box office record breaking ‘The Main Event’ with John Farnham/Olivia Newton-John and Anthony Warlow and again with ‘The Boy from Oz Arena Spectacular’ wth Hugh Jackman.

DW drums, Zildjian cymbals and Vater sticks endorse Dave and last year he represented them by performing on a DVD (internationally released by Hudson music) along side USA greats Greg Bisonnette and Steve Smith at ‘The Ultimate Drummers Weekend’ in Melbourne.
