Located just minutes away from the heart of Melbourne and with a strong presence in regional and remote Australia, the National Centre for Australian Studies engages the world through teaching, community outreach and research. The Centre was established over twenty years ago as a special initiative of the Australian government and it remains the most dynamic, innovative and fastest growing centre of its kind.
Our teaching profile
Australian Studies is part of a global conversation. Our undergraduate program offers a gateway to Australia, visiting sites of significance right across the country and exploring the ideas and landmarks that have helped shape Australians’ sense of themselves. You can choose from a range of offerings attuned to the needs and interests of international students. The National Centre for Australian Studies also hosts a highly successful graduate program, with one of the largest international enrolments in the Faculty of Arts. The National Centre for Australian Studies addresses the emerging challenges of Australia today providing: expert commentary to the media on issues on national importance fielding major forums in urban and regional Australia advising and informing local, state and national government contributing to the development of a national history syllabus Innovation and interdisciplinarity is at the core of Australian Studies.
