Profile

Robert Kelly has graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Arts, specialising in Sociology and Politics, and a Master of Tourism (with NCAS), with a focus on Ecotourism and Sustainability. Since 2005, he has taught in the undergraduate Contemporary Australia program. Rob also heads up the field trip program for that unit, organising trips to Broken Hill, Gippsland and various locations around Melbourne.

Research interests and supervision

Rob is currently working on a Master of Arts by Research, with his major thesis subject "Battlefield Tourism". Other current projects include a tourism history of Kryal Castle, and organising a series of public lectures to be held in Broken Hill. Rob's major academic interests lie within the "dark tourism" sphere of tourism studies; as well as educating exchange students about the finer points of contemporary Australian society.
