Monash Clayton is the original and largest campus of the university. Set on 100 hectares of landscaped grounds it is a community in itself, with a variety of shops, eateries, banks, and sporting and recreation facilities. The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Rae Frances, is based at the Clayton campus, as are eight of the Faculty's 9 schools.

The enormous range of Arts offerings extends from the traditional, such as languages, history, politics, geography and literature to the more cutting edge disciplines of communications and media studies, psychology, environmental science and visual culture. The modern Performing Arts Centre houses the dynamic music and drama programs which also come under the banner of Monash Arts.
