| Policy Statement |
The Faculty Honours Convener is the key academic administrative role within the faculty in relation to Honours matters. The Honours Convener:
- Works with the Associate Dean (Education) and Associate Dean (Graduate Research) to oversee Honours candidature in the faculty and to develop and implement faculty policy on Honours;
- Attends relevant faculty-level education committees (particularly ESEC) and is responsible for disseminating related information to the schools’ honours coordinators, particularly on matters relating to honours coursework matters, policies and development;
- Communicates and provides expert advice on administrative, educational and policy information to honours coordinators in the schools ;
- Offers support and oversight in the development of Honours programs and initiatives to schools;
- Provides expert advice and guidance to newly appointed Honours coordinators/staff on relevant Honours faculty policies and procedures in relation to teaching and learning;
- Contributes to the development of Honours policies and teaching culture by participation in relevant faculty and university committees/working parties, in collaboration with the Associate Dean (Education);
- Oversees the administration of Honours scholarships;
- Approves student applications for variations in the terms of their Honours candidature;
- Convenes ad hoc working parties on Honours, as the need arises;
- Subsequent to the developments and outcomes relating to Honours strategic directions and teaching initiatives at the faculty and university levels, supports and promotes these schemes to the schools’ honours coordinators and other academic staff, when required, accordingly.
