ARCAsia Pacific Futures Network - Islam Node

In March 2004 a competitive grant application was submitted to the Australian Research Council for the formation of an Asia Pacific research network. This application was among the four successful social sciences/humanities applications. The ARC Asia Pacific Futures Network(ARC APFRN) was launched in late 2004 with Prof Louise Edwards as the Convenor.

The The ARC APFRN's broad goals are to provide stimulus for innovative research that makes links across disciplinary and area boundaries to enhance Australia's interactions with and knowledge of the Asia Pacific region. The ARC APFRN constitutes 7 nodes, including the Islam Node.

The ARC APFRN Islam Node brings together an interdisciplinary group of scholars from different universities around Australia to showcase research excellence and expertise in studies of Muslim affairs in Australia, Asia and the Middle East. The Islam node website carries news of initiatives and activities on research in Islam and Muslim affairs.
