Postgraduate Teaching and Research in the Centre for Postcolonial Writing
The degrees of MA in Creative Writing, and MA in English by thesis are offered. Doctoral supervision is available in many of these areas.
Creative Writing
Students are invited to experiment with Creative Writing in the form of novel, novella or short stories, or with creative non-fiction, and to theorize their writing process by engaging in self-reflexive scholarly critique of the genre, considering it in social, cultural, intellectual and linguistic terms within the postcolonial context.
Creative Writing would include literary and popular fictional narrative genres such as postcolonial, historical and fantasy fiction, realism and romance, science fiction, gothic and crime, etc. In Creative Non-fiction, students may attempt life-writing, the 'creative' essay, innovative self-aware critical fiction, etc.
