Conference Venues

The conference will be held at the Monash University Conference Centre, Level 7, 30 Collins Street Melbourne. For more information, visit the Monash University Conference Website.

Plenary Sessions will be held at the Melbourne City Conference Centre, 333 Swanston Street.
- Monday 24th September, 9am - 10:30am
- Tuesday 25th September, 4pm - 6pm

The Conference Dinner will be held at the Kingbo Chinese Restaurant, Corner Russell Street & Little Bourke Street.

Call for Papers

Proposals are invited for papers (5000 to 8000 words) for presentation at the 55th APSA Conference to be held at Monash Conference Centre in Melbourne, Victoria. 24-26 September 2007.

Eight major streams have been proposed:

Specialist Panels/Sessions

Anyone wishing to convene a specialist panel is invited to email suggestions to Paul Strangio.

Panels have been proposed for the following topics:

  • Post-Howard politics
  • Terrorism
  • US, Iraq and the future of the Middle East
  • Australian Federalism

Deadlines for Abstracts and Papers

Abstracts (no more than 300 words) for all papers are due on or before 1st June 2007. Please submit your abstract as an attachment via email (preferably as a Word document saved as RTF) to the relevant Stream Coordinator.

Papers submitted for refereeing are due on or before 6th July 2007. Please submit your paper for refereeing to the relevant Stream Coordinator as an attachment via email (preferably as a Word document saved as RTF). The refereeing process will be in accordance with DEST guidelines.

Papers should be from 5000 to 8000 words in length. Formatting details available here.

Postgraduate Information

Postgraduate Workshop

There is a special session for postgraduates (Postgraduate Workshop) that will be held prior to the opening of the conference. This will take place on the Sunday 23rd September at the conference venue 10.45 – 4.30 prior to the Conference Reception (Welcoming Drinks).

Postgraduate Travel Scholarship

APSA awards a number of Traveling Scholarships to help defray postgraduate expenses in attending the conference to present a paper. Please complete the Travel Award Application Form.

Best Postgraduate Paper

The paper deemed the best postgraduate paper of the conference will be awarded a prize.
