Communities of Learning 1085-1453: Cultural Exchange and Religious Diversity from the capture of Toledo to the fall of Constantinople

The 2006 annual Institute for Public History public lecture will be held in early August and jointly given by two world famous authorities on Medieval Europe, Associate Professor Constant Mews (Monash School of Historical Studies) and Professor Earl Jeffrey Richards (Universität Wupperthal, Germany). The lecture will be hosted by the State Library of Victoria and is entitled Communities of Learning 1085-1453: Cultural Exchange and Religious Diversity from the capture of Toledo to the fall of Constantinople. The lecture will be illustrated with manuscripts from the collection of the State Library of Victoria and linked to the new permanent exhibition at the State Library, 'Mirror of the World: books and ideas'.

This lecture is part of the "Communities of Learning, Religious Diversity, and the Written Record 1085-1453" conference, 2-4 August, 2006.
