Information for Prospective Students - the Centre for Studies in Religion and Theology

Thinking about further study in Religion and Theology?

Consider doing a major or minor sequence in religion and/or theology as part of a BA degree, or pursuing the joint BA/BTheol degree. If you have a BA (in any subject) or a BTheol, think about a BA (honours) in religion and theology, one year full-time or two years part-time study. The Centre offers an MA in religion and theology, by research or by course-work and research.

With the Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation, it also offers a Masters in Interreligious Studies. The Centre for Studies in Religion and Theology also cooperates in teaching a Masters in Islamic studies, offered through the Centre for Islam and the Modern World, located in the School of Political and Social Inquiry.

At undergraduate level see Religion and Theology Undergraduate Units

At honours or Masters level, you may study:

HSY4175/HYM4/5175 - Interpreting the Bible: Jewish and Christian perspectives
HSY4260/HYM4/5260 - Medieval dialogues: reason, mysticism and society
RLT4140/RLM4/5150 - Confronting death through Ceremony and Symbol

Other subjects can be included in a course of studies, by arrangement. The Centre also offers a Masters in Civil Ceremonies, exploring rites of passage, ceremony, literature and music in ritual and professional conduct, offering opportunity for professional placement.

Please refer to the 'Information for Future Students - School of Historical Studies' page for future student information.
