5.3 Writing-Up Away

A research candidate may apply for 'Writing-Up-Away' status provided that the candidate's main supervisor certifies in writing that the candidate has completed a satisfactory first draft of the thesis. Research candidates on 'Writing-Up-Away' status do not have access to library and IT facilities, as they are not liable for payment of amenities or course fees.

5.3.1 PhD Candidates

Candidates complete an 'Application for Writing-Up-Away' form which is available from Monash Research Graduate School, the Arts Research Graduate School or are located at: /www.mrgs.monash.edu.au/research/

The maximum period is three months in the first instance and in exceptional circumstances the Committee may consider a further three months' extension.

5.3.2 Masters Candidates

Masters candidates complete an 'Application for Change to Masters Candidature Details' form and attach a letter of support form their main supervisor. The form and letter are lodged with the Arts Research Graduate School. The maximum period is three months with a possible extension of a further three months.
